the elevator pitch

Hi. I'm Marcus Howard, a born fault finder and word nerd. Basically, I fix broken English. Here's my resume.

I read my dictionary and the Associated Press stylebook like novels. It bothers me when horror-movie villains are called psychopaths and not sociopaths. When washing my hair, I read the shampoo bottle and rework the description of what’s happening on my scalp. I lure my friends into conversations about the fine differences between a hobo and a vagabond, and what separates choking from suffocation.

With experience as a copy editor, proofreader, news editor, technical writer, staff writer, and freelance editor and writer, I have developed a thorough understanding of my craft. My side work as a comedy writer has made me a troubleshooting wiz and taught me even more about how the tiniest changes can have huge impact.

I have an attention to detail that no sane person should have, and you'd do well to harness it for your benefit.
